Eagles NFL Draft Grade

Yet another NFL Draft has come and gone which means we are getting that much closer to the opening of the 2018 NFL season. The Philadelphia Eagles only had five picks this year, fortunately, there is still Undrafted Free Agency to look forward to in the coming months.

The following is the complete list of who the Eagles picked up:

2nd rd. No. 49 – Tight end Dallas Goedert , South Dakota State. (former Eagles Kicker had an epic speech lined up right before introducing the first pick:)

4th rd. No. 125 – Cornerback Avonte Maddox, Pittsburg

4th rd. No. 130 – Defensive end Josh Sweat, Florida State

6th rd. No. 206 – Offensive tackle Matt Pryor, TCU

7th rd. No. 233 – OT Jordan Mailata, A Rugby Player from Austraila

The Eagles didn’t have the biggest class of the draft, however looking ahead to the 2019 NFL Draft, the Eagles are projected to have ten picks.  Three of those will be in the first 64 picks. Also, in trading the 32nd overall pick with the Baltimore Ravens, the Eagles received a second round pick.

I personally thought Philadelphia would focus more on defense but there are still options this offseason to sign new players. I think general manager Howie Roseman and head coach Doug Pederson both are thinking about the future and building a strong core around quarterback Carson Wentz, and drafting two tackles proves that point. Plus, the Eagles are bringing back veteran running back Darren Sproles and picking up the 5th-year option for much improved wide receiver Nelson Agholor.

I can’t wait to see what these young men have to offer. There is eagerness and excitement in their eyes and I know they’re anxious to get on the field and defend their Super Bowl Title. Quite frankly, so am I!   Fly Eagles Fly!!!

OVERALL GRADE: B
