Megatron. For those who love the game, that is how we’ll always remember Calvin Johnson and his talented, explosive time with the Detroit Lions. Oh, and for helping us to understand that we really don’t know what a catch is…

Drafted #2 overall in 2007 by the Lions, Johnson immediately became an elite receiver, holding both team and NFL records that still stand and making six trips to the Pro Bowl.

In March of 2012, he signed an eight-year extension for a cool $132 million, with $60 million guaranteed. He then went on to set the NFL record for most receiving yards in a single season at 1,964. Clearly, getting paid motivated him to continue producing on the field.

And then, in a move that not only shocked fans and is still talked about today, he announced his retirement in March of 2016 due to concerns for his long-term health if he continued to play the game of professional football.

Hi Who Dats!

It’s me, Sonja.  Congrats on an amazing 2018 season!  I was hoping your team was going to make it to the Super Bowl.  Can’t have enough 40+year-old quarterbacks there, right?  I would have really liked to see Drew Brees cap off an MVP caliber year and ride off into the sunset with a Super Bowl victory.  I’m sorry that it can’t happen because of officiating.  And that is an awful position to be in.  As a Detroit Lions fan, I, unfortunately, know all too well about poor officiating leading to bad outcomes.

Where shall I start?

What shall we call Kenny Golladay?

Sonja Greenfield Detroit Lions Reporter

By Sonja Greenfield // @Mom23RN

2nd-year wide receiver Kenny Golladay has been receiving plenty of praise from the Detroit faithful the past few weeks.  Despite the team’s rocky start, Golladay is emerging as a fan favorite.

Fans originally weren’t so happy with him when he was drafted.  So far this season he has scored 3 touchdowns and caught 27 passes for 428 yards.  He has also made some impressive catches so far this season.   The catches he made last week against Green Bay were enough to make retired wide receiver and future Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson proud.

Is Firing Caldwell Racist?

Official Lions Reporter

By Sonja Greenfield //@Mom23RN

Yesterday an article was posted in the Detroit Free Press.

I read it.  And I paused.  And I thought about it.  And I must respectfully disagree.
