The Colts are trusting the process

Happy New NFL Year! It is the March Madness of the NFL. Legal tampering and free agency is well over a week old and it started off with quite a bang for some teams, including former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown to the Oakland Raiders and his former teammate, running back Le’Veon Bell to the New York Jets, and not to mention the huge trade that sent WR Odell Beckham, Jr. to the Cleveland Browns.

And although these big name signings and teams were bringing the month of March “in like a lion”, the Indianapolis Colts were, and still are, very quiet in the trade talks.

The Colts, who currently hold the most salary cap space for the 2019 season, have little movement  going forward. Listening to many of his pressers and interviews, it should not be a shock that Colts’ GM Chris Ballard didn’t have any plans to sign any huge names or make big splashes. And there is nothing wrong with that, in my humble and honest opinion.

NFL Free Agent Frenzy – who made a splash?

Kate Arhar

By Kate Arhar // @ClvlndK8

The first day of the NFL’s “Free Agent Frenzy” period is over and a few teams made quite a splash. And even though free agency hasn’t truly started, the legal tampering period has brought some great news to some teams.

This is the time of year where Armchair Experts try to predict what their teams will do and are filled with either excitement over signings or depression when their team isn’t as active as they think they should be.

While the drama surrounding the trade of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown to the Oakland Raiders took a lot of the focus over the weekend, Monday’s free agent activity brought us all back into the mix.

The Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions made the loudest noise in adding talent to struggling teams. Their fanbases seem to be really excited about the possibilities these new players bring, but they aren’t the only teams who were active yesterday.

Looking at the Panthers loss to the Lions

Detroit Lions 20 – Carolina Panthers 19

The Carolina Panthers have lost their last two games in heartbreaking fashion. First came the embarrassing blowout loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on primetime. If that wasn’t already devastating enough for fans, the Panthers followed that game with a loss to the Detroit Lions Sunday by one point, 20-19. This loss marked the Panthers 4th loss, all of which have come on the road.

One of the most frustrating things about the Lions game was the fact that the Panthers had 10 days to mull over their embarrassing loss to the Steelers, and they still showed up to Detroit with an underwhelming and lackluster performance. There were so many missed opportunities in this game that it seemed as if the Panthers found a way to lose rather than finding ways to win.

The Carolina Panthers come up just short

Redskins 23 – Panthers 17

The Cardiac cats struck again for the second week in a row on Sunday as the Panthers game came down to the wire. Unfortunately, this game did not have quite the happy ending that the Giants game had.

With under 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter, the Panthers had a chance to defeat the Redskins and score a game-winning touchdown but they were out of sync and unable to convert.

There were many frustrating scenarios in this game that led up to the nail-biting finish.

Cam Vs Kelvin

Cindy Davis Official Panthers Reporter

By Cindy Davis// @XO_CindyDavis

Anyone who is a Carolina Panther’s fan has more than likely heard by now that wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin had some harsh criticism for quarterback Cam Newton and the Panthers as a whole on Saturday.

Benjamin, who publicly spoke out for the first time since his trade, commented to The Athletic that “had he been put with an accurate quarterback, like [Aaron] Rodgers or Eli Manning” or a quarterback with “knowledge”, he would have been in a better position for success as a wide receiver. Not only were his comments seemingly out of left field for his former teammate and friend, but there are many reasons why these statements are simply not true.

Panthers Getting It Together

Official Carolina Panthers Fan Reporter

Kristen Swift // @kswift_RN

Panthers 33 Patriots 30

After a disappointing, dismal appearance in a week three loss to the New Orlean Saints, the Carolina Panthers seemed to get it together against the defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots in week four.

Film study, stout defense, and a patient offense proved to be a difference maker on Sunday. The Patriots entered the game as the worst defense in the league and likely remained the same. Offensive Coordinator Mike Shula showed balance with his play calling, 29 rushing attempts and 29 passing plays.

Quarterback Cam Newton dissected a struggling Patriot defense going 22 of 29 passing, for 316 yards, four touchdowns touchdowns (including one rushing), and one interception. Running backs Jonathan Stewart, and Christian McCaffrey, wide receiver Damiere Byrd along with Newton himself added another 140 yards on the ground.
