A look at the NY Giants defensive draft needs

The 2019 NFL draft is fast approaching, and many teams will be trying to fill the gaps on their roster. It is no surprise that the  New York Giants have some gaping holes to address. But the Giants have been known to draft great defensive players over the years, however, as of late they have suffered greatly in that department. Expert analysts have even stated that it is because of the Giants defense that Super Bowl XLVI was such a successful win over the New England Patriots. 

Players like Lawrence Taylor, Harry Carson, Pepper Johnson, Michael Strahan, Keith Hamilton, Osi Umenyiora, and Justin Tuck are just a few great players that put the Giants defense on the map. Unfortunately, since the retirement of Strahan, the defense has diminished immensely; so it is time for the Giants to focus on rebuilding. That is why it seems so obvious that the Giants would have an eye on LSU Linebacker Devin White.

2019 NFL Combine: how do the defensive linemen measure up?

Day 4 of the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine brings the defense to the forefront. Defensive Lineman, Edge Rushers and Linebackers took their turn at the 40-yard dash, bench press and other drills.

Many fans have been anticipating Nick Bosa‘s return to the field after suffering an injury last fall that ended his season at the Ohio State University. Kentucky’s Josh Allen has been the talk of draft pick trade rumors all week as teams discuss making moves up the board to get him. Were Montez Sweat‘s (Missouri) amazing numbers enough to propel him into the top ten?

Let’s take a look at these three positions and how the top prospects / performers graded out. It’s up to you to decide how these times / scores should be used in conjunction with film to decide which one works best for your team! Complete stats can be found HERE on the NFL website.
