Football and fashion typically don’t collide.  Except when you’re quarterback Cam Newton, then that is a weekly occurrence.

Lock it in. Final 2019 NFL mock draft

As we roll into the final week until the 2019 NFL draft, it is time. Here it is, my final mock draft prediction. I did not go into much detail on any trade up or down scenarios, just a couple of guesses, even though I do believe we will see at least 2 trades during the first round.

The reality is, we as sportswriters, fans, bloggers, and yes, even expert NFL analyst, just don’t know for 100%. We all make the best educated guess possible. We love to play the GM game.

This year’s draft to me is one of the most unpredictable drafts we have had in quite some time, and that number 1 pick will set the tone. Then I expect a fast and furious first round from then on!!!

Could a defensive player be the first pick in the Draft?

Lisa Johnson

By Lisa Johnson // @LJ1303

If you’re a person that believes defenses win championships, then this 2019 NFL draft is right up your alley.

This is one of the most top-heavy defensive drafts I’ve seen in quite a while. With the exception of Kyler Murray, who declared 2 weeks ago for the draft, several NFL mocks had eight of the top ten picks being defensive players. Now, how this all really turns out is anyone’s guess, but… it’s interesting.

A lot can happen before we hear the commissioner declare that the Arizona Cardinal’s are on the clock, and you’ll be hearing a lot of names before then, so let’s just start with the two popular names being heard around the league.

2019 NFL Combine: how do the defensive linemen measure up?

Kate Arhar

By Kate Arhar // @ClvlndK8

Day 4 of the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine brings the defense to the forefront. Defensive Lineman, Edge Rushers and Linebackers took their turn at the 40-yard dash, bench press and other drills.

Many fans have been anticipating Nick Bosa‘s return to the field after suffering an injury last fall that ended his season at the Ohio State University. Kentucky’s Josh Allen has been the talk of draft pick trade rumors all week as teams discuss making moves up the board to get him. Were Montez Sweat‘s (Missouri) amazing numbers enough to propel him into the top ten?

Let’s take a look at these three positions and how the top prospects / performers graded out. It’s up to you to decide how these times / scores should be used in conjunction with film to decide which one works best for your team! Complete stats can be found HERE on the NFL website.

After a season to forget, the Cardinals have options for 2019

Dayna O’Gorman

There wasn’t a lot to say about the Arizona Cardinals in 2018. Honestly, it was basically a throwaway season. However, with the Cards having a new coach and the first pick in the draft, can 2019 bring a turnaround?

After going 3-13, the Cardinals knew things had to change. They started with firing head coach Steve Wilks after just one season, and hiring college football coach, Kliff Kingsbury. Kingsbury started coaching in 2008 moving from the University of Houston, then on to Texas A&M, and finally to Texas Tech. He had been hired as the offensive coordinator at USC in December, but obviously, let that go to coach at the NFL level.

Reaction to the Kingsbury hire was, to say the least, cool from fans and media. However, he coached quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes, Baker Mayfield, Johnny Manziel, and Case Keenum. So there is reason to think his system could carry over to the NFL. Add to that the fact they brought in former Broncos head coach Vance Joseph as defensive coordinator, this team has a completely fresh start in coaching.
