2019 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement

Each year, I look to the Pro Football Hall of Fame Festivities as the start of football season and a warning that summer is coming to an end.

It’s something I love to attend every year, whether as a fan of this amazing game or, as I was this year, a member of the media. As I drive down State Route 77 and finally see Tom Benson Stadium in the distance, I get chills. Every single time.

Every class brings me something to look forward to; a player I loved or a team I hated, it doesn’t matter. And this year’s class is no different.

The 2019 class of enshrinees into the Pro Football Hall of Fame included four defensive players, two offensive players, and two front office gentlemen. And, as always, each one gave a speech that left a solid imprint in my mind.

Ty Law: PFHOF Class of 2019

It gives me great pleasure to get to talk about Ty Law.  When we were dividing this up, of course, I had to pick Ty.  Because… Michigan.  I remember in college, a girl on my hall was a Patriots fan, and really loved him. I always to say he was “mine” first at Michigan.

But back to Ty. Law was born in Pennsylvania, home to the most Hall of Famers. In Pennsylvania, football was life. As Law states, “Where I came from, if you don’t love the game of football, you better move.  We played baseball; we played basketball; we live football.”

2019 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival

It’s finally here! The real harbinger that the NFL season is about to begin: The Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival in Canton, Ohio!

Events have been occurring all summer which will culminate on the first weekend in August as we honor eight new additions to the hall and the start of preseason football.

As we prepare for this annual event, the ladies of Our Turf are here to get you prepared. We’ll be featuring each of this year’s eight enshrinees in articles during the upcoming 10 days: Champ Bailey, Pat Bowlen, Gil Brandt, Tony Gonzalez, Ty Law, Kevin Mawae, Ed Reed, and Johnny Robinson.

I’ll be on hand covering most of the events over the weekend and sharing the sights and sounds with you! Let’s look at the schedule of upcoming events for the August 1-4 festival.
