Philadelphia Eagles – On To The Next

FINAL: Eagles – 34, Cardinals – 7

Five games down, 11 more to go. Sunday’s win over the Arizona Cardinals was definitely one of the easiest, most anxiety-free games I’ve seen in a long time.  The Philadelphia Eagles looked flawless.

After a win like this I would usually celebrate pretty much all week until Thursday, when the new week starts and then my focus turns to our next opponent. But seeing as this is a short week for Philadelphia, the high off this win came down early Sunday evening and I hope the Eagles aren’t letting these wins get to their head. It’s only Week 6, there’s a lot of football still to play and this is not the time to underestimate any team.

When I said the Eagles looked flawless on Sunday, I wasn’t exaggerating nor was I being biased (which usually is the case). Quarterback Carson Wentz threw for a career-best four touchdown passes and totaled 304 yards. LeGarrette Blount has been a godsend to our offense and he hasn’t disappointed. He helped bring in 74 yards and our receiving core has actually been impressive this year. Wide receiver Nelson Agholor has been nothing short of amazing so far this season and Sunday was no exception.

I will admit that I am trying my best not to look too far ahead or jump to any conclusions or make any assumptions that can be farfetched. But it can be kind of hard when the team that was predicted to be last in the NFC East is sitting comfortably in the number one spot and continues to prove NFL analysts and fans wrong. If anything, I love that the Eagles are considered the underdog because there are people still skeptical about Philadelphia’s current situation, and I believe that’s what keeps this Eagles team humble.

Thursday night’s game against the Carolina Panthers will be a true testament to Philly’s potential. They have only one day to put in practice time and it’s on the road. Defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz has shown he will adjust his defense accordingly, and Cam Newton won’t be easy to stop. I predict this game will be gritty and come down to the defenses.
