The Jacksonville Jaguars’ were active on the first day of free agency.
General Manager, Dave Caldwell, made a few moves today. He signed their longest-tenured player and fan favorite, Marcedes Lewis, to a contract option. The $3.5 million deal is for only one year. In his 12 seasons with the Jaguars, he has caught 33 touchdowns, five of which came this season.
Jacksonville also picked up options for guard Tyler Shatley and tackle Josh Wells, both backup offensive linemen. Considering head coach Doug Marrone was a former offensive line guy himself, that’s a good vote of confidence. Wells had three starts when Cam Robinson and Jermey Parnell were hurt.
Moves that weren’t made: offering options for big names like WR Marqise Lee, WR Allen Robinson, LB Paul “Puz” Posluszny, CB Aaron Colvin. The prevailing thought is Robinson and Colvin will be picked up.
