Yes, yes, I know it’s “only” preseason, but the way the defense played last night reminded me of the way they played in the Super Bowl – they let Patriots’ QB Tom Brady get away with the short pass plays and let them gain 5+ yards. Fortunately, Philadelphia Eagles won’t play them this season, but the defense needs to clean that up before the regular season begins.
Eagles can go 0-4 these next two games, it won’t mean they aren’t ready for the 2018 season. I think head coach Doug Pederson is working out the kinks and being his usual conservative self, while (starting?) quarterback Carson Wentz is still healing from his torn ACL and waiting to hear when he can start playing 11-on-11.
Until then, (backup?) QB Nick Foles is preparing himself just in case. Foles sat out the first preseason game with back pains, but played the first half against the Patriots and finished 3-of-9 with 44 yards and one turnover. He suffered a shoulder injury sometime in the first half.
After the game, Foles said he felt “pretty good” but told reporters he will undergo tests on his shoulder today.
