NFC East power rankings

Sonja Greenfield, Senior NFL Reporter NFC North, NFC East

By Sonja Greenfield // @Mom23RN

You know me, I like to do power rankings.  I feel like they’re totally useless, and are essentially a hyped-up version of “Who’s Hot and Who’s Not” when the more established columnists/sites do them.

I, on the other hand, like to have fun with them when I do them and bring in some interesting/different reasons for why I rank the teams the way I do.  But you know me, and I enjoy doing things for fun.  So, as we kick off Week 1 in the NFL, here’s how I have the NFC East looking.

NFC East 2020 Preview

Sonja Greenfield, Senior NFL Reporter NFC North, NFC East

By Sonja Greenfield //@Mom23RN

We’re only days away from the start of a new season, and it’s time to check out the NFC East.  This go ’round, I went ahead and asked some fans how they are feeling. I like to do that every now and then. It allows me to interact with old and new friends, plus get a different perspective on the teams.

I checked in with some great people to give me their thoughts on how their team will do this season. I asked how they feel the season will go, predict the team’s record, and then someone who they feel will stand out this season.

What does 2020 have in store for the NFC East

Sonja Greenfield, Senior NFL Reporter NFC North, NFC East

By Sonja Greenfield // @Mom23RN

The 2020 schedule was released last night, and right on time.

In the midst of all that’s going on in the world, it at least gives us some semblance of normalcy.  Even if we’re still unsure what the NFL will look like come fall.

But let’s look at what 2020 could mean for the teams in the NFC East.  Aside from teams in their division, the NFC East will face the AFC North and the NFC West.

So, some pretty tough competition in and out of their division.

Change is coming to the NFC East

Sonja Greenfield, Senior NFL Reporter NFC North, NFC East

Well, the season came to an end for 3 of the 4 teams in the NFC East on Sunday.

And with the end came a firestorm of change in the division.  Well, sort of.

There’s been a lot of build-up, but we’re still waiting.

The NFC East playoff picture

Sonja Greenfield, Senior NFL Reporter NFC North, NFC East

The NFC East. The only division in the NFL that a team has neither clinched a playoff spot or a division title.

At the beginning of the season, when Dallas was on a hot streak, one would have thought that they would easily run away with the division. But a 3 game losing streak sort of set their hopes and dreams of playoff contention back a bit.

And let’s not forget the Eagles, who at the beginning of the season were sort of lackluster and have fans questioning if they should have let quarterback Nick Foles go. They have now rattled off 3 wins in a row, to still keep them in the running for the division title.

The NFC East Walter Payton Man of The Year nominees.

Sonja Greenfield, Senior NFL Reporter NFC North, NFC East

By Sonja Greenfield //@Mom23RN

It’s that time of year again. The time where the NFL starts to dole out their awards and hashtag campaigns kick into high gear. The Pro Bowl rosters have been announced, so the #ProBowlVote is done. But now the hashtag that will fill up your timeline until the day before the Super Bowl will be #WPMOY.

The Walter Payton Man of the Year. This is probably one of my favorite awards in all of sports. I don’t think there’s another major sport that has an award like this. (Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong). It’s nice to recognize the players that are working hard in their various communities. It’s right up there with My Cause, My Cleats.

I got the Power: NFC East power rankings

Sonja Greenfield, Senior NFL Reporter NFC North, NFC East

Week 13. It’s the home stretch. And it’s time to take a look at how the teams in the NFC East are faring.

After such a hot start, I thought for sure the Dallas Cowboys would be running away with the division and coming in hot, but they’ve cooled off considerably. The Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants really just seem to be floundering. Surprisingly, who’s got the hot hand? None other than the Washington Redskins. Here’s how it shakes out in my mind.

The top spot goes to the aforementioned Washington Redskins. Congrats to them, as they seem to have found a small bit of mojo, and have won their last 2 games. True, they had to work to win them, but after a really bad start to the season, it looks like they’re starting to slowly come around.

The NFC East Top Performers from Week 12

Sonja Greenfield, Senior NFL Reporter NFC North, NFC East

By Sonja Greenfield  //@Mom23RN

It’s another week is in the books and week 12 saw a pretty good lineup of games for the NFC East. The Cowboys took on the Patriots, the Redskins matched up against the Lions, the Giants traveled to Chicago and the Eagles hosted the Seahawks. And who was the only team in the NFC East to get a win? The 1-9 Washington Redskins. How about that?

Despite overall slightly lackluster performances by the NFC East, there were some who did play well and were top performers in the division this week.  Let’s head around the division and see who they were! Continue reading “The NFC East Top Performers from Week 12”

Looking around the NFC East in week 11

Sonja Greenfield, Senior NFL Reporter NFC North, NFC East

By Sonja Greenfield //@Mom23RN

Two losses, a win, and a bye make up the NFC East this week.

As the season rolls along, it’s looking more and more like the Cowboys are going to win the division, barring some crazy collapse. But as always, let’s head around the division to check in what’s going on with everyone.

Washington Redskins (1-9):  It’s been a long season for Washington already as we well know.  Rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins has been named the starter for the rest of the season, but he finally got his first touchdown in yesterday’s game, along with running back Derrius Guice.  Of course, it didn’t mean too much at the time, but could this be a look of things to come?  Something to build off of?  I mean, it could be.

Who’s having a great season in the NFC East so far?

Sonja Greenfield, Senior NFL Reporter NFC North, NFC East

By Sonja Greenfield // @Mom23RN

Here we are halfway through the season already. Crazy how time flies!

We’ve had some surprises so far this season, but honestly the NFC East has been pretty much what was expected.

Except for the Eagles, but that’s another story for another day.

But today, I’m going to look at the who on each team has had a great season so far.  As always, if you don’t agree with me, feel free to let me know!
