December, the time of year that brings us fun holidays, great times with family and friends, and a bright new year. But for Seattle Seahawks fans, it also brings their teams best football of the year. This year seems to be no different. Lets look at the gifts Seattle fans are receiving this year. Gifts that will help take the Seahawks to the post season.

Could anyone ask for a better present than the gift of having linebacker Bobby Wagner on their team? Wagner is the best linebacker in football and I dare you to argue it with me. After his insane game on Sunday against San Francisco, Wagner has 100 tackles, 1 sack, 2 forced fumbles, and a beautiful interception that was run back 98 yards for a touchdown. Without question, he is in his prime and we as Seahawks fans are lucky to have him.

How about those running backs? Chris Carson, Mike Davis, Rashaad Penny, and now the return of J.D. McKissic, have made a huge impact on this team this year. Seattle is ranked first in rushing yards per game at 148, putting the team right back to where they wanted to be with the run game. The gift of healthy RBs has been the biggest impact of any this season and we are very grateful for it.

Remember when fans were complaining about wide receiver Tyler Lockett’s contract extension? Well those fans are thanking the Seattle front office for that gift now! 713 yards and 9 touchdowns later, Lockett has proved his is completely healed from his broken leg injury from late 2017, and has earned the contract he was given.

Praising Lockett doesn’t diminish the great job the rest of the WR corps is doing. Although  Doug Baldwin has been fighting various injuries all season, his leadership on and off the field is always felt. Coming out of no where, David Moore has been a clutch receiver for quarterback Russell Wilson. In his 2nd year, the 7th round pick has 413 yards and 5 touchdowns. Jaron Brown has also been very visible as of late. He has just 150 yards, but its his 5 touchdowns that make him standout.

And then there is the biggest gift of all, QB Russell Wilson. Yeah yeah, there is the occasional fan who thinks Seattle should trade Wilson (complete insanity), but I have to wonder what those fans are confused about. Wilson, who is 19-8 in the month of December, has been insanely clutch this season. Kenneth Arthur of Field Gulls broke down Wilson’s numbers for this season, and the Seattle QB is having a career year. With the return of the run game and the improvement of the offensive line, Wilson is healthier, more efficient, and looking much like the QB fans are used to.

These are just the tip of the gift pile that the Seattle Seahawks are giving fans this year. Safety Bradley McDougald, defensive end Frank Clark, the Griffin brothers, guard D.J. Fluker, and that extra special gift flown in from Australia, punter Michael Dickson…the list could include the entire 53 man roster.

For a year that wasn’t supposed to be good, a season that was a rebuilding year with little to no expectations, the Seattle Seahawks gifts to fans have been numerous. Enjoy it.
