After surprising Lions Fans last night by drafting center Frank Ragnow out of Arkansas, the Lions traded up for the first time in the Bob Quinn era. With, of course, New England.
They drafted Kerryon Johnson out of Auburn…and there was great rejoicing. After years of having a sub-par (and that’s being nice) running game, general manager Bob Quinn is finally addressing it. After revamping the offensive line, now they add a running back. Might this be the year that they get a 100-yard rusher? It’s certainly starting to look that way.
Here’s how some of Lions Fans reacted to the pick:
Frank Ragnow and Kerryon Johnson are two of the most physically tough players in this draft class. Clear direction here for the #Lions.
Love Kerryon – top-40 player on my board…

Kerryon Johnson was the 2017 SEC Offensive player of the year after leading the conference with a league best 1,391 rushing yards and 20 TD’s. He averaged 4.8 yds per in three seasons at Auburn.

I like the move. Guice is falling for a reason. Kerryon Johnson will fit nicely in a RB by committee for his first couple years!

Now, the Lions have at running back Keyon Johnson, Ameer Abdullah, Theo Riddick, Dwayne Washington, LeGarrette Blount, Tion Green and Zach Zenner. This will be fun to watch the running backs jockey for position this training camp.
One more little factoid about the Lions new running back. He wishes he were alive when Barry Sanders was in his prime because that’s his favorite player.
They got a running back!!! Let’s Go!!
